In Tanzania, the immigration officials say strict border surveillance will be increased to keep away illegal immigrants from conflict prone regions such as Somalia who can easily gain entry into the region through the porous borders.

“I see internal borders operating until we become a political federation and because goods are usually moved by people whose entry eligibility we must ascertain, stopping of commercial vehicles will be one of the casualties,” said Mr Kimune Kihemano, the head of Tanzania’s immigration department.
